Stock market update: Power stocks up as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power shares closed lower in the Monday's session.
SJVN(up 13.86%), Inox wind(up 11.67%), Inox Wind Energy(up 8.12%), Orient Green Power Company(up 8.00%), Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(up 6.47%), NHPC(up 6.17%), Karma Energy(up 4.59%), Gujarat Industries Power(up 4.42%), RTNPOWER(up 3.03%) and KEC International(up 2.59%) stood among the top gainers.
Indo Tech Transformers(down 3.15%), Voltamp Transformers(down 2.51%), Jyoti Structures(down 2.17%), DPSC(down 2.07%), Hitachi Energy India(down 1.92%), Alstom T&D India(down 1.81%), Adani Power(down 1.55%), Torrent Power(down 1.52%), Reliance Power(down 0.95%) and ADANIGREEN(down 0.64%) were among the top losers of the day.
The NSE Nifty50 index ended 72.65 points down at 19672.35, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 299.48 points at 66384.78.
SBI Life(up 2.05%), IndusInd Bank(up 2.01%), Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 1.96%), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 1.53%), Bajaj Finserv(up 1.51%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 1.37%), TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(up 1.26%), UltraTech Cement(up 1.24%), Hero MotoCorp(up 1.03%) and Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(up 0.94%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
On the other hand, ITC(down 3.89%), Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 3.7%), Tech Mahindra(down 2.78%), Reliance Industries(down 2.02%), Britannia Industries(down 1.55%), JSW Steel(down 1.37%), Tata Steel(down 0.94%), Hindustan Unilever(down 0.91%), LTIMindtree Ltd(down 0.89%) and Maruti Suzuki(down 0.77%) closed in the red.
