Stock market update: Power stocks down as market rises

NEW DELHI: Power shares closed higher in the Friday's session.
KKV Agro Powers Ltd.(up 4.51%), Kalpataru Projects International Ltd.(up 3.29%), Adani Green Energy Ltd.(up 2.89%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd.(up 2.65%), GE T&D India Ltd.(up 1.70%), Jyoti Structures Ltd.(up 1.49%), Adani Power Ltd.(up 1.03%) and Adani Energy Solutions Ltd.(up 0.46%) stood among the top gainers.
Inox Wind Ltd.(down 7.27%), SJVN Ltd.(down 6.71%), Power and Instrumentation(Gujarat)Ltd.(down 5.59%), NHPC Ltd.(down 5.18%), NLC India Ltd.(down 5.17%), Orient Green Power Company Ltd.(down 4.97%), RattanIndia Power Ltd.(down 4.77%), PTC India Ltd.(down 4.69%), Gujarat Industries Power Company Ltd.(down 4.38%) and Suzlon Energy Ltd.(down 4.06%) were among the top losers of the day.
The NSE Nifty50 index ended 64.55 points up at 21782.5, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 167.06 points at 71595.49.
Grasim Industries Ltd.(up 5.41%), State Bank of India(up 3.68%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd.(up 3.32%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(up 2.35%), ICICI Bank Ltd.(up 2.17%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd.(up 2.12%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(up 2.1%), Britannia Industries Ltd.(up 1.97%), Axis Bank Ltd.(up 1.5%) and Adani Enterprises Ltd.(up 1.48%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 2.35%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.(down 2.06%), Bharti Airtel Ltd.(down 1.92%), NTPC Ltd.(down 1.82%), Hindalco Industries Ltd.(down 1.67%), Tata Steel Ltd.(down 1.64%), UPL Ltd.(down 1.49%), Infosys Ltd.(down 1.35%), SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd.(down 1.33%) and HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd.(down 1.31%) closed in the red.
