Stock market update: Power stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power shares closed lower in the Monday's session.

Adani Transmissions(up 5.00%), ADANIGREEN(up 4.99%), Adani Power(up 4.98%) and Hitachi Energy India(up 1.47%) stood among the top gainers.

Energy Development Company(down 6.94%), Reliance Power(down 6.11%), Inox wind(down 5.57%), PTC India(down 4.98%), Karma Energy(down 4.92%), Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(down 4.36%), SJVN(down 4.27%), Indowind Energy(down 4.02%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures(down 3.88%) and NLC India(down 3.87%) were among the top losers of the day.


The NSE Nifty50 index ended 258.6 points down at 17154.3, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 897.28 points at 58237.85.

Tech Mahindra(up 6.84%) and Apollo Hospitals Enterprises(up 0.64%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, IndusInd Bank(down 7.4%), State Bank of India(down 3.17%), Tata Motors(down 3.09%), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 2.71%), Eicher Motors(down 2.65%), Bajaj Finserv(down 2.49%), Infosys(down 2.48%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(down 2.38%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(down 2.3%) and Axis Bank(down 2.29%) closed in the red.
