Stock market update: Power stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power shares closed lower in the Friday's session.

Tata Power Company(up 0.45%) and NTPC(up 0.24%) stood among the top gainers.

Adani Transmissions(down 20.00%), ADANIGREEN(down 20.00%), Suzlon Energy-Partly Pd up Right Is(down 7.86%), Orient Green Power Company(down 7.48%), K.P.I. Global Infras(down 6.08%), Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(down 5.94%), Torrent Power(down 5.40%), Inox wind(down 5.19%), Adani Power(down 5.00%) and PTC India(down 4.98%) were among the top losers of the day.


The NSE Nifty50 index ended 287.6 points down at 17604.35, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 874.16 points at 59330.9.

Tata Motors(up 6.34%), Bajaj Auto(up 5.9%), Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 2.69%), ITC(up 1.99%), Divis Laboratories(up 1.55%), Cipla(up 1.16%), UPL Ltd(up 0.91%), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 0.66%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprises(up 0.47%) and HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(up 0.45%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Adani Enterprises(down 18.52%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(down 16.29%), State Bank of India(down 5.06%), ICICI Bank(down 4.45%), IndusInd Bank(down 3.44%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(down 3.15%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(down 2.94%), Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 2.1%), Axis Bank(down 2.08%) and Hindalco Industries(down 2.07%) closed in the red.
