Stock market update: Power stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power shares closed lower in the Wednesday's session.

Suzlon Energy-Partly Pd up Right Is(down 14.04%), Orient Green Power Company(down 13.64%), Suzlon Energy(down 11.30%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures(down 8.48%), SJVN(down 6.18%), DPSC(down 6.01%), NLC India(down 5.98%), Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(down 5.95%), PIGL(down 5.00%) and Adani Power(down 4.99%) were among the top losers of the day.
The NSE Nifty50 index ended 186.2 points down at 18199.1, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 635.05 points at 61067.24.
Divis Laboratories(up 4.99%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprises(up 3.69%), Cipla(up 3.38%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 1.75%), HCL Technologies(up 1.03%), Nestle India(up 0.89%), Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 0.87%), Tech Mahindra(up 0.8%), Tata Consultancy(up 0.76%) and SBI Life(up 0.25%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
On the other hand, Adani Enterprises(down 6.32%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(down 3.01%), IndusInd Bank(down 2.19%), Bajaj Finserv(down 2.1%), UltraTech Cement(down 2.08%), Maruti Suzuki(down 2.04%), Britannia Industries(down 2.0%), Tata Motors(down 1.92%), ICICI Bank(down 1.92%) and Axis Bank(down 1.84%) closed in the red.
