Stock market update: Power stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power shares closed lower in the Thursday's session.
Energy Development Company(up 3.14%), Voltamp Transformers(up 1.57%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures(up 1.38%), Adani Power(up 0.92%), Inox Wind Energy(up 0.25%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 0.18%), CESC(up 0.13%) and KEC International(up 0.07%) stood among the top gainers.
PTC India(down 6.02%), Inox wind(down 4.89%), Suzlon Energy(down 4.81%), Orient Green Power Company(down 4.76%), KPI Green Energy(down 4.65%), RTNPOWER(down 4.55%), Alstom T&D India(down 4.54%), Indowind Energy(down 4.40%), JSW Energy(down 4.16%) and GE Power India Limited(down 4.13%) were among the top losers of the day.
The NSE Nifty50 index ended 430.9 points down at 15809.4, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 1416.3 points at 52792.23.
ITC(up 3.32%), Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 0.61%) and Power Grid Corporation of India(up 0.18%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
On the other hand, Wipro(down 6.25%), HCL Technologies(down 5.99%), Infosys(down 5.44%), Tech Mahindra(down 5.43%), Tata Consultancy(down 5.42%), Tata Steel(down 4.92%), JSW Steel(down 4.89%), Hindalco Industries(down 4.38%), TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(down 4.37%) and IndusInd Bank(down 4.09%) closed in the red.
