Stock market update: Power stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power stocks were trading lower on Monday at 10:49AM

Kalpataru Power Transmission(up 4.10%), Karma Energy(up 0.63%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 0.51%), Adani Transmissions(up 0.09%) and Hitachi Energy India(up 0.09%) were among the top gainers.

Jaiprakash Power Ventures(down 8.18%), Suzlon Energy(down 4.93%), Energy Development Company(down 4.92%), Indowind Energy(down 4.82%), Orient Green Power Company(down 4.49%), RTNPOWER(down 4.35%), GE Power India Limited(down 4.04%), DPSC(down 4.00%), K.P.I. Global Infrastructure(down 3.83%) and SJVN(down 3.47%) were among the top losers.


The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 84.95 points down at 17191.35, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 242.87 points at 57590.1 at around 10:49AM.

Maruti Suzuki(up 1.48%), Shree Cement(up 0.93%), IndusInd Bank(up 0.73%), ICICI Bank(up 0.63%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 0.49%), HDFC Bank(up 0.44%), Cipla(up 0.31%), Eicher Motors(up 0.28%) and Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 0.2%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Coal India(down 3.74%), UPL Ltd(down 2.65%), Titan Company Ltd(down 2.22%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(down 2.03%), Hindalco Industries(down 1.91%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(down 1.81%), Divis Laboratories(down 1.79%), Hero MotoCorp(down 1.47%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(down 1.45%) and Tata Consultancy(down 1.45%) were trading in the red.
