Stock market update: Power stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power shares closed lower in the Monday's session.
Energy Development Company(up 4.83%) and Suzlon Energy(up 4.41%) stood among the top gainers.
Indo Tech Transformers(down 8.47%), NHPC(down 6.37%), Inox wind(down 6.16%), Voltamp Transformers(down 6.00%), Karma Energy(down 5.00%), Indowind Energy(down 4.97%), Reliance Power(down 4.94%), K.P.I. Global Infras(down 4.94%), DPSC(down 4.90%) and Jaiprakash Power Ventures(down 4.90%) were among the top losers of the day.
The NSE Nifty50 index ended 371.0 points down at 16614.2, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 1189.73 points at 55822.01.
Cipla(up 3.91%), Hindustan Unilever(up 1.74%) and Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 0.95%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
On the other hand, Bharat Petroleum Corporation(down 6.42%), Tata Steel(down 5.22%), Tata Motors(down 4.92%), IndusInd Bank(down 4.18%), State Bank of India(down 3.98%), Coal India(down 3.93%), Bajaj Finance(down 3.87%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(down 3.87%), Hindalco Industries(down 3.79%) and Indian Oil Corporation(down 3.63%) closed in the red.
