Stock market update: Power stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power shares closed lower in the Friday's session.

Indo Tech Transformers Ltd.(up 2.82%) stood among the top gainers.

Reliance Power Ltd.(down 5.01%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd.(down 4.69%), Ravindra Energy Ltd.(down 4.61%), Adani Green Energy Ltd.(down 4.39%), Adani Energy Solutions Ltd.(down 3.76%), SJVN Ltd.(down 3.65%), Kalpataru Projects International Ltd.(down 3.57%), PTC India Ltd.(down 3.53%), ACME Solar Holdings Ltd.(down 3.44%) and GE Vernova T&D India Ltd.(down 3.36%) were among the top losers of the day.


The NSE Nifty50 index ended 225.1 points down at 24837.0, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 721.08 points at 81463.09.

Cipla Ltd.(up 3.0%), SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd.(up 2.15%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd.(up 1.43%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd.(up 0.98%), HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd.(up 0.67%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(up 0.42%) and Bharti Airtel Ltd.(up 0.1%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Bajaj Finance Ltd.(down 4.72%), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(down 2.86%), Shriram Finance Ltd.(down 2.8%), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(down 2.57%), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 2.45%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(down 2.43%), Infosys Ltd.(down 2.38%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd.(down 2.29%), Adani Enterprises Ltd.(down 2.24%) and Trent Ltd.(down 2.16%) closed in the red.
