Stock market update: Nifty Realty index falls 0.96%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Realty index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.
Shares of Mahindra Lifespace Developers Ltd.(up 1.62 per cent), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd.(up 1.53 per cent) and Brigade Enterprises Ltd.(up 0.09 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Macrotech Developers Ltd.(down 3.17 per cent), Godrej Properties Ltd.(down 2.95 per cent), Sobha Ltd.(down 1.27 per cent), Indiabulls Real Estate Ltd.(down 1.16 per cent) and DLF Ltd.(down 0.52 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Realty index closed 0.96 per cent down at 578.8.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 159.6 points at 19122.15, while the BSE Sensex stood down 522.82 points at 64049.06.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 10 ended in the green, while 40 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, JP Power, IOB and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Welspun Invst, Macpower CNC Machine, Wealth First Port, Welspun India and Kewal Kiran Clo hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Krishana Phoschem, Netweb Technologies, Updater Service, Arihant Superst and SecMark Consultancy hit their fresh 52-week lows.
