Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 2.01%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Monday.
Shares of Biocon(up 1.41 per cent) and Abbott India(up 0.17 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Aurobindo Pharma(down 4.17 per cent), Lupin(down 3.82 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(down 3.72 per cent), Zydus Lifesciences(down 3.16 per cent) and Strides Pharma Science(down 2.92 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 2.01 per cent down at 13296.75.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 218.0 points at 16953.95, while the BSE Sensex stood down 617.26 points at 56579.89.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 8 ended in the green, while 42 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Shree Ren Sug, SAIL and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Agro Phos India, Meghmani Finechem Ltd., Gokul Refoils, HBL Power and De Nora India hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while FutureLifestyleFash, Future Supply Chain, Future Consumer, Future Market and Birla Tyres hit their fresh 52-week lows.
