Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 1.84%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.
Shares of Alembic Pharmaceuticals(up 1.42 per cent), Torrent Pharmaceuticals(up 0.81 per cent), Granules India(up 0.36 per cent), Ipca Laboratories(up 0.35 per cent) and Pfizer(up 0.2 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Dr Reddys Laboratories(down 5.17 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 2.73 per cent), Divis Laboratories(down 2.44 per cent), Lupin(down 2.37 per cent) and Abbott India(down 2.03 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 1.84 per cent down at 12689.55.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 187.95 points at 16605.95, while the BSE Sensex stood down 778.38 points at 55468.9.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 15 ended in the green, while 35 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Coal India Ltd, PNB and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Kalyani Commercials, Madhya Bharat Agro, InfoBeans Tech, GNFC and Mangalam Global Ent hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Dr. Reddys, Richa Info Systems Ltd., SoftTech Engineers, Felix Industries and Hind Nat Glass hit their fresh 52-week lows.
