Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 1.65%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.

Shares of ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Granules India Ltd.(down 6.0 per cent), Ipca Laboratories Ltd.(down 4.16 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 4.09 per cent), Biocon Ltd.(down 3.86 per cent) and Lupin Ltd.(down 3.35 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty Pharma index closed 1.65 per cent down at 16121.25.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 302.95 points at 21150.15, while the BSE Sensex stood down 930.88 points at 70506.31.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 4 ended in the green, while 46 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Indian Railway Fin, Reliance Power and JP Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of SAL Steel Ltd, Capital Trust, CL Educate, Times Guaranty and Hindcon Chemicals hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Bajel Projects, Bohra Industries, Aeroflex Industries, ASK Automotive and Shivalik Rasayan hit their fresh 52-week lows.
