Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 1.4%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.
Shares of Granules India Ltd.(up 0.89 per cent) and Pfizer Ltd.(up 0.09 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 4.21 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma Ltd.(down 2.89 per cent), Biocon Ltd.(down 2.87 per cent), Alkem Laboratories Ltd.(down 2.72 per cent) and Lupin Ltd.(down 1.93 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 1.4 per cent down at 15067.15.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 92.65 points at 19436.1, while the BSE Sensex stood down 286.06 points at 65226.04.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 10 ended in the green, while 39 closed in the red.
Shares of Suzlon Energy, IOB, JP Power, Vodafone Idea and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of SoftTech Engineers, Apollo Micro Systems, MPS Ltd, SaskenTech and Dynamatic Tech hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Manoj Vaibhav Gems N, Nuvama Wealth Manage, Sai Silks(Kalamandi, Shree Ram Proteins and Yatra Online hit their fresh 52-week lows.
