Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 1.31%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Tuesday.
Shares of J B Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 2.3 per cent), Ipca Laboratories Ltd.(up 1.42 per cent), Gland Pharma Ltd.(up 0.98 per cent), Abbott India Ltd.(up 0.53 per cent) and Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd.(up 0.43 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Lupin Ltd.(down 3.09 per cent), Zydus Lifesciences Ltd.(down 3.07 per cent), Biocon Ltd.(down 2.67 per cent), Cipla Ltd.(down 2.5 per cent) and Laurus Labs Ltd.(down 2.33 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 1.31 per cent down at 21456.15.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 261.55 points at 24683.9, while the BSE Sensex stood down 872.98 points at 81186.44.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 7 ended in the green, while 43 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, BEL, Suzlon Energy and Reliance Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of SRM Contractors, Stampede Cap(DVR), Sanathan Textiles, Kilitch Drug and Kavita Fabrics hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Protean eGov Techno, DRC Systems India, Chembond Chem, Vodafone Idea and Jai Balaji Inds hit their fresh 52-week lows.
