Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 1.15%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Friday.
Shares of Aurobindo Pharma(up 3.08 per cent), Strides Pharma Science(up 1.7 per cent), Zydus Lifesciences(up 1.35 per cent), Granules India(up 1.35 per cent) and Natco Pharma(up 1.2 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Ipca Laboratories(down 8.68 per cent), Divis Laboratories(down 5.62 per cent), Biocon(down 1.46 per cent), Cipla(down 1.08 per cent) and Lupin(down 1.07 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 1.15 per cent down at 12864.0.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 39.15 points at 17698.15, while the BSE Sensex stood up 130.18 points at 59462.78.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 26 ended in the green, while 24 closed in the red.
Shares of Zomato Ltd., Tata Steel, Vodafone Idea, YES Bank and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of GVK Power Infra, AMD Industries, Pavna Industries Ltd., Hilton Metal and Ethos Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Future Retail, Birla Tyres, 8K Miles Soft, Krsnaa Diagnostics and Vipul Ltd hit their fresh 52-week lows.
