Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 1.03% in an upbeat market

Nagaraj Shetti, Technical Research Analyst at HDFC Securities, believes Monday's pattern could be considered as a High Wave, which reflects high volatility in the market at swing highs.
NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index traded negative around 11:11AM(IST)on Monday in an upbeat market.

Natco Pharma(up 1.26 per cent), Glaxosmithkline Pharmaceuticals(up 0.86 per cent), Sanofi India(up 0.59 per cent), Laurus(up 0.47 per cent) and Alkem Laboratories(up 0.41 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Cipla(down 6.22 per cent), Biocon(down 1.83 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma(down 1.8 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(down 0.97 per cent) and Gland Pharma(down 0.87 per cent) were the top losers on the index.


The Nifty Pharma index was down 1.03 per cent at 12028.4 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 17.55 points at 17961.75, while the BSE Sensex was up 127.49 points at 61130.06.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 26 were trading in the green, while 24 were in the red.

Shares of Suzlon Energy, Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Zomato Ltd. and Brightcom Group were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Majesco L(PP), Pennar Ind, Sonata Software, Vaishali Pharma and Career Point hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Arshiya, Sadbhav Infra, STL Global, Vivimed Labs and Adani Transmission hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
