Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 1.02%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Thursday.
Shares of Gland Pharma Ltd.(up 1.78 per cent) and Laurus Labs Ltd.(up 0.68 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Sanofi India Ltd.(down 1.97 per cent), Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 1.69 per cent), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd.(down 1.66 per cent), Granules India Ltd.(down 1.59 per cent) and GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 1.5 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 1.02 per cent down at 14648.55.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 264.9 points at 18857.25, while the BSE Sensex stood down 900.91 points at 63148.15.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 5 ended in the green, while 45 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, JP Power, Indian Railway Fin and Zomato were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Somi Conveyor, Premier Poly, Kapston Facilities, Sonata Software and Sical Logistics hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Godha Cabcon & Insul, VL E-Governance & IT, MT Educare, Speciality Rest and Netweb Technologies hit their fresh 52-week lows.
