Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 0.96%
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.96 per cent down at 17154.0.

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.
Shares of Sanofi India Ltd.(up 1.39 per cent), Gland Pharma Ltd.(up 0.96 per cent), Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 0.92 per cent), Lupin Ltd.(up 0.88 per cent) and GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 0.77 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Biocon Ltd.(down 2.75 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma Ltd.(down 2.7 per cent), Divi's Laboratories Ltd.(down 2.25 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 1.91 per cent) and Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd.(down 1.88 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.96 per cent down at 17154.0.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 460.35 points at 21571.95, while the BSE Sensex stood down 1628.01 points at 71500.76.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 10 ended in the green, while 40 closed in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Indian Railway Fin, TV18 Broadcast and Infibeam Avenues were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Goa Carbons, Ganesh Housing, Shemaroo Entertain, Majesco L and Rane Eng Valve hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Digidrive Distributo, GSS Infotech, Azad Engineering, Flair Writing Indust and Gandhar Oil Refinery hit their fresh 52-week lows.
