Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 0.92%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.

Shares of Biocon Ltd.(up 1.19 per cent), J B Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 0.55 per cent) and Laurus Labs Ltd.(up 0.5 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Natco Pharma Ltd.(down 2.8 per cent), Ipca Laboratories Ltd.(down 2.54 per cent), Divi's Laboratories Ltd.(down 1.86 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma Ltd.(down 1.69 per cent) and Mankind Pharma Ltd.(down 1.37 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.92 per cent down at 19644.5.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 41.91 points at 23516.0, while the BSE Sensex stood up 36.45 points at 77337.59.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 11 ended in the green, while 39 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Indus Towers, YES Bank, Shree Ren Sug and GMR Infra were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Kalyani Forge, Windsor Machine, Tirupati Forge, MITCON Const & Engg. and Tera Software hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while SecUR Credentials, Kanani Inds, Future Supply Chain, GIR Natureview and BDR Buildcon hit their fresh 52-week lows.
