Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 0.82%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Tuesday.

Shares of Alembic Pharmaceuticals(up 4.12 per cent), Gland Pharma(up 0.89 per cent), Ipca Laboratories(up 0.55 per cent) and Biocon(up 0.45 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Granules India(down 3.08 per cent), Cadila Healthcare(down 2.64 per cent), Laurus(down 1.83 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(down 1.57 per cent) and Abbott India(down 1.55 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.82 per cent down at 14040.65.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 179.55 points at 17805.25, while the BSE Sensex stood up 672.71 points at 59855.93.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 36 ended in the green, while 14 closed in the red.

Shares of JP Power, Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, YES Bank and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Dwarikesh Sugar, Aarey Drugs Ph, Banswara Syntex, DC Infotech and Indo Rama Synth hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Vivo Collaboration Solutions Ltd., A and M Jumbo Bags L, Shri Ram Switchgears, HEC Infra Projects and McDowell Hold hit their fresh 52-week lows.
