Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 0.81%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Monday.
Shares of Torrent Pharmaceuticals(up 1.35 per cent), Zydus Lifesciences(up 0.76 per cent), Pfizer(up 0.3 per cent) and Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 0.08 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Lupin(down 1.94 per cent), Biocon(down 1.93 per cent), Strides Pharma Science(down 1.66 per cent), Natco Pharma(down 1.53 per cent) and Laurus(down 1.33 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.81 per cent down at 13028.4.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 73.65 points at 17241.0, while the BSE Sensex stood down 200.18 points at 57991.11.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 16 ended in the green, while 34 closed in the red.
Shares of JP Power, Suzlon Energy, Zomato Ltd., Vodafone Idea and Shree Ren Sug were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of GRSE, Axita Cotton, Apollo Sindoori, De Nora India and Sakar Healthcare hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Ishan International Ltd., Akshar Spintex, Tips Films Ltd., Kandarp Digi Smart BPO Ltd. and Reliance Comm hit their fresh 52-week lows.
