Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 0.71%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.
Shares of J B Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 3.67 per cent), Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 2.59 per cent), Granules India Ltd.(up 2.45 per cent), Gland Pharma Ltd.(up 1.92 per cent) and Divi's Laboratories Ltd.(up 1.64 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd.(down 2.64 per cent), Natco Pharma Ltd.(down 2.59 per cent), Zydus Lifesciences Ltd.(down 2.48 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma Ltd.(down 2.42 per cent) and Lupin Ltd.(down 1.76 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.71 per cent down at 20820.0.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 12.4 points at 22932.9, while the BSE Sensex stood down 28.21 points at 75939.18.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 ended in the green, while 25 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, YES Bank, RVNL and Zomato were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Taj GVK Hotels, TCPL Packaging, Shree Rama News, Hexaware Technologie and Camlin Fine Sc hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Touchwood Entertainment, Suratwwala Business, Revathi Equipment In, Best Agrolife and IRIS Clothings hit their fresh 52-week lows.
