Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 0.19%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Tuesday.
Shares of Biocon(up 2.73 per cent), Natco Pharma(up 1.57 per cent), Laurus(up 1.3 per cent), Gland Pharma(up 1.24 per cent) and Cipla(up 1.06 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(down 3.47 per cent), Sanofi India(down 2.57 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 1.48 per cent), Glaxosmithkline Pharmaceuticals(down 0.91 per cent) and Zydus Lifesciences(down 0.57 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.19 per cent down at 12590.3.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 82.65 points at 18147.65, while the BSE Sensex stood up 242.27 points at 61354.71.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 30 ended in the green, while 19 closed in the red.
Shares of Indian Railway Finance Corporation Ltd., YES Bank, IDFC First Bank, Zomato Ltd. and Rail Vikas Nigam were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Datamatics Glob, Peninsula Land, Ircon Intl., Welspun India and Lokesh Machines hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Gallantt Metal, Lagnam Spintex, Parin Furniture, Party Cruisers Ltd. and Transwind Infrastruc hit their fresh 52-week lows.
