Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 0.15%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.
Shares of Biocon(up 1.73 per cent), Torrent Pharmaceuticals(up 1.09 per cent), Lupin(up 0.72 per cent), Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 0.52 per cent) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 0.46 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Abbott India(down 1.55 per cent), Alembic Pharmaceuticals(down 1.45 per cent), Gland Pharma(down 1.37 per cent), Ipca Laboratories(down 1.13 per cent) and Cipla(down 1.06 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.15 per cent down at 13833.7.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 156.6 points at 18212.35, while the BSE Sensex stood up 533.15 points at 61150.04.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 37 ended in the green, while 13 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, JP Power, Suzlon Energy, YES Bank and Alok Industries were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Timescan Logistics(India)Ltd., Pearl Global, Jullundur Motor, Menon Bearings and Sheela Foam hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Vivo Collaboration Solutions Ltd., PayTM, Spandana Sphoorty, Foce India Ltd. and Vikas Ecotech (PP)hit their fresh 52-week lows.
