Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 0.08%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Monday.

Shares of Natco Pharma(up 3.35 per cent), Cipla(up 2.78 per cent), Abbott India(up 2.64 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma(up 2.04 per cent) and Granules India(up 1.55 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 2.6 per cent), Divis Laboratories(down 0.95 per cent), Lupin(down 0.46 per cent), Alkem Laboratories(down 0.33 per cent) and Ipca Laboratories(down 0.25 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.08 per cent down at 12766.85.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 181.8 points at 17340.05, while the BSE Sensex stood up 545.25 points at 58115.5.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 38 ended in the green, while 12 closed in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, IDFC First Bank, Zomato Ltd., Tata Steel and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Metro Brands Ltd., West Coast Paper, Ram Ratna Wire, Andhra Paper and TN Newsprint hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Bombay Rayon, Birla Tyres, IMP Powers Ltd, DRC Systems India Ltd. and Aakash Exploration hit their fresh 52-week lows.
