Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 2.68%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.

Shares of Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd.(up 4.8 per cent), Gland Pharma Ltd.(up 3.62 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(up 3.41 per cent), Divi's Laboratories Ltd.(up 3.35 per cent) and Biocon Ltd.(up 3.24 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Natco Pharma Ltd.(down 0.53 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma Ltd.(down 0.49 per cent) and Pfizer Ltd.(down 0.45 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty Pharma index closed 2.68 per cent up at 17938.65.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 203.61 points at 21725.7, while the BSE Sensex stood up 612.21 points at 71752.11.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 46 ended in the green, while 4 closed in the red.

Shares of JP Power, Hind Const Co, Vodafone Idea, YES Bank and UCO Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Aries Agro, Jyoti CNC Automation, Modison Metals, Cords Cable Ind and Dolat Invst hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while GSS Infotech, Latteys Industries, Vedant Fashions, Automotive Axle and VIP Ind. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
