Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 2.39%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.

Shares of Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(up 7.61 per cent), Divis Laboratories(up 4.99 per cent), Granules India(up 4.0 per cent), Lupin(up 3.5 per cent) and Biocon(up 3.49 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Gland Pharma(down 1.58 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty Pharma index closed 2.39 per cent up at 12920.4.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 186.2 points at 18199.1, while the BSE Sensex stood down 635.05 points at 61067.24.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 14 ended in the green, while 36 closed in the red.

Shares of Suzlon Energy, YES Bank, IOB, UCO Bank and Indian Railway Finance Corporation Ltd. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Jindal Worldwide, Integrated Personnel Services Ltd., Tirupati Forge, Goldstar Power and Arvee Laboratories hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Jakharia Fabric, KCK Industries Ltd., Viviana Power Tech Ltd., Arshiya and Nandan Denim hit their fresh 52-week lows.
