Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 2.38%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Tuesday.
Shares of Ipca Laboratories(up 4.39 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 3.93 per cent), Cipla(up 3.02 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma(up 2.77 per cent) and Pfizer(up 2.71 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Gland Pharma(down 0.32 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 2.38 per cent up at 12844.85.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 150.3 points at 16013.45, while the BSE Sensex stood up 581.34 points at 53424.09.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 37 ended in the green, while 12 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, ONGC, Bank of Baroda and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Mawana Sugars, Kennametal India, Future Enterprises (DVR), Dwarikesh Sugar and Bombay Metrics Supply Chain Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Wockhardt, JK Cement, Shri Ram Switchgears, Akash Infra-Proj and McNally Bharat hit their fresh 52-week lows.
