Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 2.33%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.

Shares of Laurus(up 6.14 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(up 4.02 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 3.04 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma(up 3.03 per cent) and Divis Laboratories(up 2.7 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Alembic Pharmaceuticals(down 0.98 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty Pharma index closed 2.33 per cent up at 12628.95.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 157.95 points at 16641.8, while the BSE Sensex stood up 547.83 points at 55816.32.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 41 ended in the green, while 9 closed in the red.

Shares of Zomato Ltd., YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy and Tata Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Pitti Engineering, Shoppers Stop, Archidply Ind, Sree Rayalaseema and Coromandel Int. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Tanla Solutions, IMP Powers Ltd, Future Retail, KCK Industries Ltd. and Bajaj Hindusthan Su hit their fresh 52-week lows.
