Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 2.2%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.

Shares of Natco Pharma Ltd.(up 4.65 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma Ltd.(up 4.54 per cent), Lupin Ltd.(up 4.39 per cent), Biocon Ltd.(up 3.7 per cent) and Zydus Lifesciences Ltd.(up 3.68 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Gland Pharma Ltd.(down 3.76 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty Pharma index closed 2.2 per cent up at 22036.95.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 304.96 points at 24297.5, while the BSE Sensex stood up 874.94 points at 79468.01.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 41 ended in the green, while 9 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Zomato, HFCL and Reliance Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of BASF India, Rajdarshan Ind, TBZ, Adhunik Industries and Balu Forge Ind hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Fusion Micro Finance, Focus Lighting, Shrenik, IndusInd Bank and Spandana Sphoorty hit their fresh 52-week lows.
