Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 1.52%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Monday.
Shares of Alkem Laboratories(up 3.58 per cent), Gland Pharma(up 3.2 per cent), Cadila Healthcare(up 2.65 per cent), Divis Laboratories(up 2.42 per cent) and Ipca Laboratories(up 2.16 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(down 0.22 per cent) and Abbott India(down 0.02 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 1.52 per cent up at 13179.9.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 237.9 points at 17339.85, while the BSE Sensex stood up 813.94 points at 58014.17.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 44 ended in the green, while 6 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, JP Power, MMTC and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Jainam Ferro Alloys(I)Ltd., Bharat Road Net, Lotus Eye Hosp, MMTC and Parin Furniture hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while AGS Transact Technologies Ltd., AB Cotspin India Ltd., Atal Realtech, Mahalaxmi Rub and Dynamic Services & Security Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
