Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 1.51%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.
Shares of Biocon(up 6.27 per cent), Granules India(up 4.82 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma(up 4.25 per cent), Alembic Pharmaceuticals(up 3.28 per cent) and Cadila Healthcare(up 2.83 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Gland Pharma(down 0.99 per cent) and Divis Laboratories(down 0.43 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 1.51 per cent up at 13433.85.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 293.05 points at 17469.75, while the BSE Sensex stood up 1016.03 points at 58649.68.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 45 ended in the green, while 5 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, HFCL, Suzlon Energy and SAIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Motor Gen Fin, Rajdarshan Ind, Bajaj Healthcare, Rel Ind Infra and IFCI hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Destiny Logistics & Infra Ltd., Whirlpool India, Dhruv Consultancy, Laxmi Cotspin and Marine Electricals hit their fresh 52-week lows.
