Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 1.44%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Tuesday.
Shares of Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 3.55 per cent), Ipca Laboratories Ltd.(up 3.46 per cent), Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 3.3 per cent), J B Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 3.17 per cent) and Divi's Laboratories Ltd.(up 2.65 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Gland Pharma Ltd.(down 0.55 per cent) and Sanofi India Ltd.(down 0.17 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 1.44 per cent up at 23307.95.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 217.41 points at 25013.15, while the BSE Sensex stood up 584.81 points at 81634.81.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 36 ended in the green, while 14 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, JP Power, Suzlon Energy, Ola Electric Mobilit and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of India Glycols, Skipper Ltd, Dalmia Bharat, Tainwala Chem and BSE hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while MITCON Const & Engg.(PP), Vinny Overseas, MEP Infrastructure, Dhanvarsha Finvest and Arshiya hit their fresh 52-week lows.
