Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 1.35%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Thursday.
Shares of Ipca Laboratories Ltd.(up 5.01 per cent), J B Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 3.55 per cent), Mankind Pharma Ltd.(up 3.25 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(up 3.1 per cent) and Aurobindo Pharma Ltd.(up 3.1 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Natco Pharma Ltd.(down 20.0 per cent), Abbott India Ltd.(down 1.47 per cent), Ajanta Pharma Ltd.(down 0.78 per cent), Gland Pharma Ltd.(down 0.18 per cent) and Laurus Labs Ltd.(down 0.01 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 1.35 per cent up at 21427.1.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 13.85 points at 23031.4, while the BSE Sensex stood down 32.11 points at 76138.97.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 ended in the green, while 25 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Tata Steel, YES Bank, Suzlon Energy and SAIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Redington, Muthoot Finance, Dr. Agarwals Health, SBI Card and Norben Tea Exp hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Albert David, Swelect Energy, Kavita Fabrics, W S Industries and Balaxi Pharma hit their fresh 52-week lows.
