Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 1.33%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Thursday.
Shares of Abbott India(up 5.74 per cent), Zydus Lifesciences(up 3.71 per cent), Torrent Pharmaceuticals(up 3.45 per cent), Natco Pharma(up 2.42 per cent) and Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 2.13 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Strides Pharma Science(down 3.76 per cent), Lupin(down 2.3 per cent), Alkem Laboratories(down 1.13 per cent), Alembic Pharmaceuticals(down 0.41 per cent) and Divis Laboratories(down 0.26 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 1.33 per cent up at 12874.3.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 40.5 points at 16818.1, while the BSE Sensex stood down 188.32 points at 56409.96.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 ended in the green, while 25 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, PNB, Zomato Ltd. and BEL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Pricol, Apollo Sindoori, Aurionpro Sol, Rites and Airo Lam hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while SVP Global, CMI Ltd, Bannari Amman, Ansal Housing and Kopran Ltd hit their fresh 52-week lows.
