Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 1.28%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Thursday.
Shares of Ipca Laboratories(up 3.36 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 2.52 per cent), Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 2.49 per cent), Divis Laboratories(up 2.32 per cent) and Lupin(up 2.1 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Natco Pharma(down 1.63 per cent), Alembic Pharmaceuticals(down 1.07 per cent), Cipla(down 0.69 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(down 0.67 per cent) and Zydus Lifesciences(down 0.49 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 1.28 per cent up at 13546.05.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 311.7 points at 17287.05, while the BSE Sensex stood up 1047.28 points at 57863.93.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 45 ended in the green, while 5 closed in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, NALCO, ONGC and SAIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Pitti Engineering, Shiv Aum Steels, Brigade Ent., Jagsonpal Pharm and Bharat Dynamics hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Future Enterprises, FutureLifestyleFash, Future Retail, Future Consumer and Future Supply Chain hit their fresh 52-week lows.
