Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 1.09%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Tuesday.
Shares of Abbott India(up 6.88 per cent), Granules India(up 3.66 per cent), Biocon(up 3.3 per cent), Laurus(up 3.04 per cent) and Natco Pharma(up 2.71 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Aurobindo Pharma(down 2.8 per cent), Gland Pharma(down 0.14 per cent) and Alkem Laboratories(down 0.13 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 1.09 per cent up at 12745.95.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 417.0 points at 16259.3, while the BSE Sensex stood up 1344.63 points at 54318.47.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 49 ended in the green, while 1 closed in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, Life Insurance Corporation of India and SAIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Honda Siel Power, Megastar Foods, GSS Infotech, Silver Touch Tech and Madhya Bharat Agro hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Cigniti Tech, Life Insurance Corporation of India, Birla Tyres, Innovative Tyres & T and Future Retail hit their fresh 52-week lows.
