Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 1.04%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.
Shares of Alkem Laboratories(up 3.1 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma(up 2.31 per cent), Gland Pharma(up 1.74 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 1.66 per cent) and Lupin(up 1.46 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Glaxosmithkline Pharmaceuticals(down 1.36 per cent), Granules India(down 0.26 per cent), Sanofi India(down 0.2 per cent), Pfizer(down 0.16 per cent) and Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(down 0.11 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 1.04 per cent up at 11754.7.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 44.4 points at 17151.9, while the BSE Sensex stood up 139.91 points at 58214.59.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 32 ended in the green, while 16 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Zomato Ltd., GAIL and Trident Ltd were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of DRS Dilip Roadlines, Chaman Lal Setia, Vardhman Special, RM Drip and Sprinkle and Arrow Greentech hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Sobha, Jet Knitwears, Astron Paper & Board, Future Enterprises and Visagar Polytex hit their fresh 52-week lows.
