Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.94%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Monday.
Shares of Zydus Lifesciences Ltd.(up 5.37 per cent), Laurus Labs Ltd.(up 3.53 per cent), Granules India Ltd.(up 3.49 per cent), Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 2.42 per cent) and Gland Pharma Ltd.(up 1.54 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 1.79 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 0.81 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma Ltd.(down 0.41 per cent) and Alkem Laboratories Ltd.(down 0.32 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.94 per cent up at 16332.15.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 38.0 points at 21418.65, while the BSE Sensex stood down 168.66 points at 71315.09.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 19 ended in the green, while 31 closed in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Indian Renewable, Indian Railway Fin and HFCL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of HOV Services, Times Guaranty, Aarvee Denims, Surana Telecom and Shree Rama News hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while SS Infrastructure, Penta Gold, Raj Rayon, SEL Manufact and GIR Natureview hit their fresh 52-week lows.
