Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.92%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Thursday.
Shares of Mankind Pharma Ltd.(up 3.85 per cent), Ipca Laboratories Ltd.(up 3.16 per cent), J B Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 1.92 per cent), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd.(up 1.29 per cent) and Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 1.24 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Abbott India Ltd.(down 0.56 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 0.54 per cent), Laurus Labs Ltd.(down 0.28 per cent) and Biocon Ltd.(down 0.24 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.92 per cent up at 21340.6.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 283.06 points at 23190.65, while the BSE Sensex stood up 899.01 points at 76348.06.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 46 ended in the green, while 4 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Zomato, National Highways InvIT and SCI were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Welspun Corp, Kaveri Seed Co., AstraZeneca, Aavas Financiers and Avanti Feeds hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while KEI Industries, Praxis Home Retail, Future Lifestyle Fashions, Sanco Industries and Spacenet Enterprise hit their fresh 52-week lows.
