Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.9%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Friday.

Shares of Granules India(up 3.34 per cent), Biocon(up 2.34 per cent), Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 2.01 per cent), Divis Laboratories(up 1.91 per cent) and Gland Pharma(up 1.89 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Ipca Laboratories(down 1.65 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma(down 1.15 per cent) and Alembic Pharmaceuticals(down 0.62 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.9 per cent up at 12669.95.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 182.3 points at 16352.45, while the BSE Sensex stood up 632.13 points at 54884.66.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 37 ended in the green, while 13 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, ONGC, Suzlon Energy, YES Bank and SAIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Accuracy Shipping, Medico Remedies, Empyrean Cashews Ltd., Kohinoor Foods and Standard Ind hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Piramal Ent., Indo Nat Ltd, Debock Sales & Mktg, Birla Tyres and Future Retail hit their fresh 52-week lows.
