Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.88%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Thursday.

Shares of Strides Pharma Science(up 4.5 per cent), Granules India(up 4.15 per cent), Zydus Lifesciences(up 3.88 per cent), Lupin(up 2.75 per cent) and Abbott India(up 2.16 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Gland Pharma(down 14.56 per cent), Ipca Laboratories(down 0.57 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(down 0.49 per cent) and Alkem Laboratories(down 0.23 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.88 per cent up at 13228.05.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 80.6 points at 17736.95, while the BSE Sensex stood up 212.88 points at 59756.84.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 36 ended in the green, while 13 closed in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, PNB, Suzlon Energy, RBL Bank and Tata Steel were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Nalwa Sons Invst, Bharat Bijlee, SJVN, IIFL Finance and Trans & Rectif hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while NMDC, Gland Pharma, Precot Meridian, FSN E-Comm(Nykaa)and Sigma Solve hit their fresh 52-week lows.
