Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.78%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Thursday.

Shares of Natco Pharma(up 2.38 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 2.3 per cent), Laurus(up 1.76 per cent), Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 1.64 per cent) and Ipca Laboratories(up 1.61 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Alembic Pharmaceuticals(down 1.54 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma(down 1.21 per cent), Divis Laboratories(down 1.19 per cent), Lupin(down 0.58 per cent) and Gland Pharma(down 0.57 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.78 per cent up at 12721.0.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 28.0 points at 15938.65, while the BSE Sensex stood down 98.0 points at 53416.15.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 19 ended in the green, while 30 closed in the red.

Shares of Suzlon Energy, Vodafone Idea, Zomato Ltd., YES Bank and ONGC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Spacenet Enterprise, Butterfly Gandhi, PC Jeweller, GRP Ltd and International Constructions Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Arrow Greentech, Birlasoft, Suumaya Lifestyle, Sintex Plastics Tech and Electrotherm hit their fresh 52-week lows.
