Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.77%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Tuesday.
Shares of Mankind Pharma Ltd.(up 3.16 per cent), J B Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 2.92 per cent), Lupin Ltd.(up 2.62 per cent), Abbott India Ltd.(up 2.5 per cent) and Alkem Laboratories Ltd.(up 1.25 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Granules India Ltd.(down 1.34 per cent), Divi's Laboratories Ltd.(down 0.49 per cent), Biocon Ltd.(down 0.15 per cent) and Natco Pharma Ltd.(down 0.01 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.77 per cent up at 22729.0.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 7.16 points at 25017.75, while the BSE Sensex stood up 13.65 points at 81711.76.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 21 ended in the green, while 29 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Zee Ent., Tata Teleservices, CESC and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Ucal Fuel Sys, Goldiam Intnl, NIIT, KFIN Technologies and Nelco Ltd hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Filatex Fashions, Davangere Sugar, Rubfila Intnl, GIR Natureview and BDR Buildcon hit their fresh 52-week lows.
