Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.77%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Thursday.
Shares of Zydus Lifesciences Ltd.(up 3.54 per cent), Alkem Laboratories Ltd.(up 3.46 per cent), Laurus Labs Ltd.(up 2.88 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 1.9 per cent) and Cipla Ltd.(up 1.46 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Natco Pharma Ltd.(down 0.48 per cent), Gland Pharma Ltd.(down 0.26 per cent), Sanofi India Ltd.(down 0.1 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(down 0.08 per cent) and Abbott India Ltd.(down 0.02 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.77 per cent up at 16294.2.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 36.55 points at 20901.15, while the BSE Sensex stood down 132.04 points at 69521.69.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 ended in the green, while 24 closed in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Reliance Power, Vodafone Idea, Tata Power and JP Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Nagreeka Export, Aakash Exploration, Windsor Machine, Vertoz Advertising and Sandur Manganese hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while APM Finvest, Raj Rayon, Flair Writing Indust, Winsome Yarns and SEL Manufact hit their fresh 52-week lows.
