Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.76%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Friday.
Shares of Laurus(up 5.32 per cent), Lupin(up 2.27 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(up 2.23 per cent), Alkem Laboratories(up 2.17 per cent) and Ipca Laboratories(up 1.59 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Sanofi India(down 6.62 per cent), Cipla(down 0.65 per cent), Gland Pharma(down 0.65 per cent), Granules India(down 0.61 per cent) and Glaxosmithkline Pharmaceuticals(down 0.4 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.76 per cent up at 12613.95.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 149.95 points at 18065.0, while the BSE Sensex stood up 463.06 points at 61112.44.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 41 ended in the green, while 9 closed in the red.
Shares of Zomato Ltd., Rail Vikas Nigam, Vodafone Idea, Indian Railway Finance Corporation Ltd. and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Pondy Oxides, Aarti Surfactants(PP), Vertexplus Technolo, Ethos Ltd. and Shree Vasu Logistics hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while MMTC, Compuage Infocom, Brightcom Group, Parin Furniture and Creative Peripherals hit their fresh 52-week lows.
