Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.72%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Tuesday.
Shares of Gland Pharma(up 7.61 per cent), Lupin(up 2.43 per cent), Cipla(up 1.76 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 1.46 per cent) and Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(up 1.39 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Laurus(down 9.27 per cent), Granules India(down 2.53 per cent), Natco Pharma(down 0.72 per cent), Ipca Laboratories(down 0.66 per cent) and Aurobindo Pharma(down 0.16 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.72 per cent up at 13087.35.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 55.3 points at 18618.05, while the BSE Sensex stood up 177.04 points at 62681.84.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 ended in the green, while 25 closed in the red.
Shares of Indian Railway Finance Corporation Ltd., Suzlon Energy, Rail Vikas Nigam, PNB and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of SBC Exports, Rite Zone Chemcon India Ltd., Chembond Chem, Mohini Health & Hygi and Accelya Solutions hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Laurus Labs, Indiabulls Intgrtd, Ishan International Ltd., Penta Gold and Vital Chemtech Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
