Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.68%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.
Shares of Zydus Lifesciences(up 2.78 per cent), Ipca Laboratories(up 2.76 per cent), Torrent Pharmaceuticals(up 2.02 per cent), Lupin(up 1.85 per cent) and Gland Pharma(up 1.79 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Pfizer(down 0.97 per cent), Natco Pharma(down 0.54 per cent), Cipla(down 0.53 per cent), Granules India(down 0.27 per cent) and Sanofi India(down 0.08 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.68 per cent up at 12734.5.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 112.05 points at 18165.35, while the BSE Sensex stood up 390.02 points at 61045.74.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 38 ended in the green, while 12 closed in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Zomato Ltd., PNB, Tata Steel and FSN E-Comm(Nykaa)were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of TVS Electronics, Homesfy Realty Ltd., Atul Auto, JTL Infra and Generic Engg hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Anlon Technology Solutions Ltd., Nureca Ltd., Chaman Metallics Ltd., Ballarpur Inds. and Nakoda Group Of Ind hit their fresh 52-week lows.
