Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.65%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Friday.
Shares of Laurus(up 2.41 per cent), Divis Laboratories(up 1.39 per cent), Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 1.32 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 0.82 per cent) and Lupin(up 0.51 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Strides Pharma Science(down 0.98 per cent), Zydus Lifesciences(down 0.7 per cent), Alembic Pharmaceuticals(down 0.66 per cent), Alkem Laboratories(down 0.65 per cent) and Granules India(down 0.51 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.65 per cent up at 12950.45.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 171.35 points at 17185.7, while the BSE Sensex stood up 684.64 points at 57919.97.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 29 ended in the green, while 20 closed in the red.
Shares of Suzlon Energy, Zomato Ltd., Federal Bank, YES Bank and Vodafone Idea were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Jay Jalaram Technologies Ltd., Maks Energy Solutions India Ltd., Shemaroo Entertain, SKP Bearing Industries Ltd. and GSS Infotech hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Debock Sales & Mktg, Punjab Chemical, Tembo Global Indust, Akshar Spintex and Dhanuka Realty hit their fresh 52-week lows.
